While not exactly an illustration project, this is a revamp of an old illustration series. The intent of this project is to share inspirational words from well known superheroes, not only with comic fans, but especially with the world beyond comic fans. By doing this, I hope to shine new light on the comic book industry as one that all people can connect to and learn from.
My original version of this project had re-purposed famous comic artist’s work in the form of silhouettes. These silhouettes displayed some iconic poses of major members of DC Comic’s Justice League. After seeing people’s reaction to this project, I contacted DC to see if they had any interest in selling the posters. I was told that, unfortunately, they couldn’t set up a contract with me to sell the posters, especially considering they used other artist’s work. They were very polite and welcoming, despite their being unable to help. Please take a moment to view the older version, which can be found on my Behance profile.
Fortunately, this project has been a success. The words, more than the images, have touched many people, and I have received many requests from many people wanting to share this inspiration with others. I revamped this project to utilize just the words, original graphics inspired by the characters, and free for commercial use photography. Hopefully, these are now even more interesting to non-comic book fans. Not only that, but, according to my research, these are now legal to sell. You can find them for sale here.
I would like to thank all comic book writers out there and all people who seek to share stories of good’s triumph over evil. Please enjoy!
